OVERVIEW:
According to the book's description, this story is about:
Tsukina is a single, thirty-something office worker whose favorite thing is curling up with a good book. When a god tells her that she must go to another world to become its magical savior, Tsukina isn't interested. She has zero desire to go on some grand hero's journey. So when she arrives in this strange new land, she decides to use her magical powers to create a cozy little book café instead. Her first customer is a handsome soldier who loves reading almost as much as she does. But when a fellow "savior" starts causing trouble, Tsukina might have to play the hero after all!
REVIEW:
If you ask anyone who knows me, they will gladly tell you that the Isekai genre is not in my top ten. It is one of those genres that always felt stiff to read and watch (personal opinion). To clarify, Isekai is a genre of writing where the main character or characters have been transported to another world by some means due to an unknown or known reason.
However, The Savior's Book Cafe is a unique approach to the hero/adventure story. It's well written, witty, and challenges the genre with a female lead that wants to be left alone to live their life according to their desires. The story has a main plot and subplot that coexist without feeling like two separate stories and merge to perfectly reflect the complications within the society and the heroine.
INTERESTING FACT: Something cool about the book, author, or series when available.
