OVERVIEW:
A nobleman with a secret and a princess on a mission find love—and lots of grilled cheese sandwiches—when they least expect it, in this funny, heartfelt graphic novel rom-com.
Lady Camembert wants to live life on her own terms, without marriage. Well, without marrying a man, that is. But the law of the land is that women cannot inherit. So when her father passes away, she does the only thing she can: She disguises herself as a man and moves to the capital city of the Kingdom of Fromage to start over as Count Camembert.
But it’s hard to keep a low profile when the beautiful Princess Brie, with her fierce activism and great sense of fashion, catches her attention. Camembert can’t resist getting to know the princess, but as the two grow closer, will she be able to keep her secret?
A romantic comedy about mistaken identity, true love, and lots of grilled cheese.
REVIEW:
This is definitely one of those "pick up this book now" moments. Muniz does a wonderful job weaving in comedy, romance, and suspense for all audiences. The characters are adorable, and fun- it will captivate you quickly. The cheese puns are amazing. And, all the characters are named after types of cheese, which just makes for a fun time. The art is absolutely stunning and compliments the story without completing taking away from it. Also, Muniz' typical art style is less complicated than this so it was nice to see another form of their style. With this book being a quick read, I don't want to say anything else as it might spoil it. So, here are a couple of the reviews from Goodreads:
"This book has a kinship with The Prince and the Dressmaker that I loved a few years back for the focus on fashion and confronting outdated laws on gender and marriage in a queer tale of disguised identity." - S.Penkevich, Goodreads
"i’m not an avid graphic novel reader, and those i have read haven’t always been a winner for me, but the princess and the grilled cheese sandwich was a delight! if i could find more comics and graphic novels like this one, i would be indulging in them." - Elena, Goodreads
"This adorable comic was so sweet and adorable and goofy and heartwarming!! The gorgeous art by Deya Muniz lured me in and I couldn’t get the cover out of my head. I HAD TO READ IT." - Jasmine, Goodreads
