REVIEW:

Nimona is a unique tale which plenty of opportunities to engage in a fantasy world with familiar elements and realistic characters. This graphic novel is perfect for the middle school audience and could easily be used within the classroom. The storyline is easy to follow, and it is excellent to see a plus-size heroine kicking butt and taking names. There are quite a few laugh-out-loud moments within the story that have you cheering along with the action and accomplishments Nimona has. It has a whimsical way about it and nods to similar universes such as Steven Universe and Adventure Time. There are points in the story where the dialogue gets a little tangled, but it is easy to get back on track for slightly below readers or higher.
