OVERVIEW:
She’s young, single and about to achieve her dream of creating incredible videogames. But then life throws her a one-two punch: a popular streamer gives her first game a scathing review. Even worse she finds out that same troublesome critic is now her new neighbor! A funny, sexy and all-too-real story about gaming, memes and social anxiety. Come for the plot, stay for the doggo.
REVIEW:
The premise of "Let's Play" merges romance and nerd culture effectively, regardless of the background of the reader. Sam is a believable character who is engaging, thoughtful, and realistic in her shyness and hesitations toward new experiences and things. The cast is wonderfully balanced and quirky. Artistically, the style is fresh and modern, with influences from Japanese animation. While some points in the story are a little mature (18+), the overarching storyline is appropriate for all ages and can be found in print and web form.
Currently the story is in hiatus, but is set to return shortly.
INTERESTING FACT:
Mongie is the Creator of the Eisner and Ringo nominated webtoon Let's Play. Currently, Let's Play is marked as completed with it moving to a different platform according to her social media. Here's to following those updates closely.
